Revelstoke to Fairmont Hot Springs

I knew the lapses into unconsciousness I experienced on the cattle class flight here the night before was not sleep! This morning (8.45), I am rested and about to eat breakfast. If it is as good as last night's salmon - and beer - then I will be ready for one of Tess's infamous holiday lunch less days. Just ask her poor sister Maryann.
JAL aeroplanes may be the latest but the food lets the airline down. Rice with a variety of gravies. Don't ask Tess about breakfast. Service was excellent.
I arrived wide awake - Tess had to be woken on the tarmac! - but later events proved that my brain had suffered form lack of sleep. We cleared customs quickly, eventually collected our bags and picked up the GyPSy guide.
Had to show her the
ipad message because someone had forgotten to remind me to print the voucher. (I drive, Tess is responsible for documents, navigatio
n and everything else. She's let me down a couple of times this trip:()
Anyway, we trolley our way to Alamo to be told our booking had been cancelled. I'm not happy with our Travel Agent and Alamo. The friendly attendant is about to re-book us for a slight extra charge when my assistant discovers another car voucher, this one for Dollar.
We find Dollar and my normal sharp thinking and courtesy temporarily desert me. The flight is entirely to blame for my bad mood. Genevieve (I'm sorry) finds our details and promises a mid size Corolla. I argue that a Corolla is small, not midsize. I'm sorry Mo, I forgot about the Yaris! Then she wants to sell me extra insurance. I say no several times but as my assistant has left for the bathroom, I eventually (but will bad grace) accept some insurance which I probably don't need. Then she explains the prepaid fuel and return the car empty policy. I reply that I was always happy to fill the car on return. She loses interest in any further relationship with me and I detect echoes of Ross (family thing).

Find the perfectly capacious Corolla in the carpark and install the GyPSy guide quickly and then spend 10 minutes trying to work out how to install the redundant FM receiver. Assistant eventually reads instructions and solves problem. We exit the airport and the guide comes to life of its own accord! I am impressed.
Canada has lived up to our high hopes. The scenery is spectacular and the roads eat up the many miles required to get anywhere. I was warm in long sleeves and jeans last night but needed a cardigan for my morning walk in the drizzle. Mind you, we are in a ski resort. Fairmont is a summer holiday resort so swimmers are the uniform. It's just great to finally be here.
Our holiday really starts today.

- All my own work. RV. Except for the bits by Tess.

Location:Revelstoke, BC

The good thing about your arduous adventures is they always make for entertaining reading. Looking forward to reading more.

Lillie and I are spending the July 4th long weekend searching for rental accommodation for the construction period.
