After a day's thought, I bought a pair of Bushnell 7X35 binoculars and regardless of their optical quality (I'm no judge) I have never used a pair as much as this trip. I felt like an explorer or old salt, scanning the horizon and passing bergs and coastline. I doubt they are a good pair but for $49 they do the job.

Yesterday's boat tour at Ketchikan provided binoculars on every row. I cant say I spotted any bears with them but there were plenty of bald eagles and marine animals on display. And they brought the high peaks and glaciers into sharp focus.
I wanted to buy some classic souvenirs for the kids to fight over - you know, T-shirts, caps, pack of cards with 52 safe ways with bears and other local nic nacs but I was vetoed. Sorry kids.

Tess has been taking huge numbers of still and video shots. Will take months to sift and sort so don't ask to see them on your first visit after our return or you will be sorry:)
- All my own work. RV. Except for the bits by Tess.
