All is forgiven

I'm sitting on our deck on the fourth floor of the same building with a view of mountains, privacy, lots of light and wifi. I am a contented traveller. Staff here have been very helpful and my English skills must have worked in painting a pathetic picture of heartbroken Aussie traveller who was in need of an upgrade. Here is our view now.

It is almost 5 o'clock but we are soon off for a dip in Fairmont Hot Springs. Open till 10pm like most things around here. They make the most of their brief summer. Makes me realize what value we have in our holiday properties which are year round propositions. Tess took this picture of Riverview apartments on our return from Kimberley.

It was a small mining town 80k south of here with a curious Austrian/ Tyrollean flavour and the world's largest cuckoo.

I spoke to the owner/operator whose English was poor but better than my German. Confused him with my talk of bellows, perhaps because his clock is electrical. Interesting "organic", slightly hippy coffee shop. I would not necessarily go out of my way to visit this far south, although it did give us a taste of the prairies as the mountains receded and grasslands waved in the winds.

Hoped to visit some natural springs on the drive back but fortunately I called for fuel and the locals warned it was under water - the Columbia is flowing fast - and our rental would not enjoy the 22 k of gravel road.

So we packed, tidied and moved rooms.
Now to take in the waters.

PS Just remembered. Asked Tess to take a shot of a Dodge Ram, world's (read America's) biggest selling "car" during the Bush years. Then even Americans stopped butting them and Chrysler went broke.
This is my shot.

- All my own work. RV. Except for the bits by Tess.

So glad to hear your accommodation has improved.

I'm playing catch up with your blog, so all my comments are going to be late to the party.
