Our day started at Revelstoke, a heli skiing resort these days with lumber in trouble. Our GyPSy Guide pointed our plenty of points of interest as we drove Highway 1 to Golden. Here we stocked up on cherries (my lunch snack) and bought a double adapter for the 12v socket. I was pleased with our tech experiments even if Tess had to wait for me to shift from P before getting access to the socket. Now we listen to the Guide through its own speaker, freeing the radio AUX input for my ipod which can also be charged on the go or my GPS phone which tracks our journey if I supply it with enough power!
But enough tech talk. We are about the same distance from Vancouver as Sydney is from Melbourne. The town of Fairmont Hot Springs does make even Melbourne look like an enticing metropolis but the natural splendour more than compensates:)
Heading East from Golden we drove beside the Kicking Horse river and through spectacular cliffs and forests, some dying from beetle infestation. We stopped twice in Yoho National Park. Tess was surveyed by a Ranger.

Behind me is Emerald Lake. One more stop before I took photos. The wolf is blind but enjoys the smell. Not sure how much wolf.

So here was what we saw photos of during childhood.

And this is me going ooh ahh into the mic.
I wanted to walk to a better vantage point but was met by this notice:

We tore ourselves away and headed back to Natural Bridge.

Listen to the sound of the water:
Tess was enjoying herself.

Then it was back to the highway and just short of Banff we took a turn to Lake Louise.

Spectacular light show:
Then a long drive to Fairmont. Great day!
- All my own work. RV. Except for the bits by Tess.
