- This was the view from my window this morning after a night of light snow, which has continued throughout the day.
Ross says that Japanese ski fields have lots of snow but not much sun. It has also been still and cold so the powder is excellent. We will have done most of the runs by tomorrow afternoon so I am ready to head on the Hakaba but this is an a nice little spa town. Ross tried a public Onsen today. They are free public baths heated geothermally. Smell rather odd.
Here is a posh one
Day started with an authentic Japanese breakfast which left us wondering how to eat some of it. Tasty though.
I climbed the interesting path to the base of the gondola and then we took the Nagasaki (need to check) gondola high up the mountain to a link chair (no seat belts!) to the top of Skyline which plunges 8k to the bottom again but being a Red run has less traffic and we hope to carve first tracks through the powder today.
Interesting to see how busy Saturday will be as there have been no crowds and even main lifts mostly without queues.
Will take more shots of the slopes today. Took a long video of a run yesterday which I will post to FB.
Enjoyed another lunch at the same restaurant and I almost ordered the same dish by mistake but fortunately our waiter remembered what I had ordered yesterday! I miss be memorable for some reason. We did as the Japanese do yesterday and removed our ski boots for lunch after first brushing all snow off. They are a considerate people and fortunately the many Aussies here seem to appreciate it. The yobs are yet to arrive.
Dinner tonight was at a (ask jean the name) restaurant, which served interesting savoury pancakes. Popular. Every table filled with Aussies. Even the Japanese woman and child lived on the Gold Coast!
After exploring the village after dinner, jean made us a coffee back at Lodge Fujiyoshi. I am finding my current book, The God Particle an enjoyable read but too much after a long day on the slopes at my level of fitness! So I hit my mat soon after 10 and sleep till 5.30.
Sayonara!
